The Journal of Human Resources Education (JHRE) is a free, quarterly electronic
journal devoted to improving the teaching of human resources management in colleges
and universities. The Journal is sponsored by the Sorrell College of Business of
Troy University.
This new academic e-journal focuses on strategies, techniques and resources for
teaching human resource concepts and practices. JHRE seeks (1) manuscripts that
discuss effective or innovative classroom and online teaching methods, (2) topical
reviews/summaries that could be used as supplemental course materials, (3) exercises
and cases that can be used to illustrate key HRM concepts, (4) discussions of student
evaluation strategies and templates, (5) resource reviews (e.g., books, videos,
computer tools), (6) practitioner commentaries about the content of HRM education
or its effectiveness, and (7) other conceptual and practical materials that enhance
the presentation and learning of subjects related to human resources management.
Articles and other materials submitted to the journal are peer reviewed by two or
more members of the Editorial Board. Submissions are assessed on the importance
of the topic, readability, conceptual or methodological soundness, and perceived
educational value. Editorial decisions on all submissions are final. The typical
review time for submitted materials is eight weeks. Manuscripts submitted for review
should not have been published previously and should not be submitted concurrently
to other journals for consideration.
While conforming to the “Guidelines for Authors,” the journal’s preferred writing
style is professional, yet conversational. It should also have significant “take-away”
value for the reader. Submissions should be made by e-mail to the editor at
JHRE@troy.edu.
