ACCOUNTING PROGRAMS AT TROY UNIVERSITY
Mission
Our mission is to be an Accounting Program of creative, highly qualified professionals dedicated to preparing our students for entry level opportunities and long-term career success, providing a fulfilling experience for members of our faculty and making meaningful contributions to the professional and academic accounting communities. Consistent with the primary mission of the Sorrell College of Business, the Accounting Program is committed to preparing students, both undergraduate and graduate, for careers with increasing professional and managerial responsibility in public accounting as well as government and business. Undergraduate students also are prepared for admission to graduate programs in accounting and business. Our mission also is consistent with the historical mission of Troy University as a teaching institution in that the Accounting Program is committed to the intellectual growth of its students through quality instruction. All other activities within the Accounting Program are in support of that primary aspect of the overall mission. Troy's Accounting Program serves a diverse student population having a variety of goals primarily focused in public accounting. Similar to the configuration of Troy University and that of the Sorrell College of Business more than half of our students are full-time [12 hours or more]. The majority of students in our accounting classes pursue degrees in accounting or other business areas. Other students have earned degrees previously and are preparing themselves for new opportunities.
