Brigadier General Edward F. Crowell is the featured speaker for the fall business convocation, Thursday, October 14, 2004 at 10:00 AM in the Trojan Center Theater. General Crowell received his undergraduate degree from Alabama State University in Business Administration and Economics and earned his MBA degree from Troy State University. Between earning his undergraduate and graduate degrees, General Crowell attended Squadron Officer School, Air Command and Staff College and Air War College.
He is currently the Mobilization Assistant to the Commander of Second Air Force at Keesler Air Force Base, Mississippi. In this position, he exercises directive authority in all aspects of command policy interpretation and implementation; ensures mission readiness of four technical training wings and a stand-alone training group; monitors goals and progress of training units, and provides guidance to meet requirements; coordinates with Air Staff and MAJCOM/DPs, training wing commanders, and DoD agencies on all matters affecting Air Force basic and technical training implementation; serves as Inspector General and Director of Staff; and acts on behalf of the Commander when required.
Brigadier General Crowell was commissioned in 1974 following graduation from The School of Military Sciences Officer, Officers Training School at the Lackland Annex, Medina AFB, Texas. Following approximately a year of active duty attending various schools, he was assigned to the 908th Tactical Airlift Group, now the 908th Airlift Wing at Maxwell AFB, Alabama. During this same time his private industry career began as a Mechanical Engineer, Mechanical Estimator, Contracts Administrator, Industrial Sales Representative, Director Employment Compliance and Urban Affairs, Director Personnel Administration, Senior Director Personnel, Vice President Human Resources and Senior Vice President Administration. These positions were with the same company covering 20 years of employment. Brigadier General Crowell has served a number of short tours of active duty in the Air Force Reserve Command while maintaining continued civilian employment. His military awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal with 3 oak leaf clusters, Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Achievement Medal, and National Defense Service Medal with 1 device.
Brigadier General Crowell lives in Montgomery, Alabama, with his wife, Ernestine. They have two children (Edward F. II and Erin Jordan).
